Wheel mouse does not perform pan functions in Revit 2018

Hello,

This only happened to me in the last 2 hours and can't find a solution.

The wheel on my Logitech M305 Wireless mouse won't let me pan in the 3D mode, all I'm getting when I press the shift button to pan with the mouse is a minus sign above the cursor. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the mouse and nothing changed. Went and got a mouse which is a plug in one with a wheel as well and that won't pan either. Revit really is getiing on my **** lately, has anyone got any sort of an inkling as to what could be causing this?

I'm in Revit Architecture 2018

Windows 8

Any bit of info will be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance,

Tomas

These are not useful pictures of the properties.

Type "Mouse" or "Logitech" to get the middle click properties. If you installed Logitech, you will need to go into that software.

Try setting the two scrolls as middle button

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-architecture-forum/updated-logitech-mouse-software-middle-but...

Also, try universal scroll for #3 (middle mouse)

You can also look at keystroke assignment if there is something more generic. From my memory, middle mouse, was the solution, surprised it is not working.

The settings look right.  Click on the chess piece icon and clear any custom settings.

Hi @Darragh98

Can you take a look at this page for settings and see if that helps?

Also in Revit, can you go to the full navigation wheel, click on PAN and check if you are able to pan in the 3d view?

No it didn't work, and that repair was for a different mouse with a few more options than I do. I'm going to open a can of beer now and think hard, or hardly think, can't remember!!! I'll keep an eye on proceedings from phone. Thanks people, these forums are the job.

@Darragh98 do you work with AutoCAD? If so, do you have the application open? Recent versions of AutoCAD have MButtonPan set to 1

OK @Darragh98 I'm out of ideas.Smiley Sad

I'm trying to get other feedback from the team, will post if anything comes up.

Meanwhile please restart again and try launching Revit again for me and check if windows updates are installed automatically from yesterday.

Thanks,

Would an overall restart of PC help?

It definitely shouldn't hurt. If it does, your doing something wrong.

When making changes to hardware and/or settings, sometimes it is necessary.

I come from the days when that answer was always yes, but it's not so much so anymore with the newer operating systems. I just installed a new hard drive on my home computer and did a fresh clean install of Windows 10, removed the old one and plugged in new one. As far as I have checked, it got all the manufacturer's drivers and configured the basic settings to my set-up in a matter of minutes without any input from me. It used to take me hours just to download drivers.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Seems like you have the wrong logitech software?

You need Options

http://support.logitech.com/en_us/software/options

This is what my settings looked like for the middle mouse button

Hello all, I turned my PC back on today and opened Revit. Lo and behold, it's panning and orbiting. Don't know how it came back to the working stage, I can't really pin point from all the tweaks I carried out from all your suggestions but it works. Thanks all, do I accept this as a solution even though we don't exactly know how it was fixed? Maybe someone with same problem can just do all the steps I done and it'll work, who knows.

Thanks again for all the help,

Tomas

The solution was to drink a beer, go to sleep and reset the computer.

I had the same problem with a new machine. I had to change my wheel button from Zoom to "Other" - and choose middle button in logitech SetPoint Button Settings panel. I am using a Cordless Optical mouse. Now I am working as expected.

Hello all,

I'm back with the same problem, wheel doesn't orbit or pan on mouse. To do those taskd I have to use the orbit wheel, which is really not good. Did anyone come up with any other solution? I went over my post but arrived at the conclusion that we never really solved that either. It just came back on all of a sudden. Any suggestions?

Tomas
