Whats the use of detail number compared to view name?

Hi fellas!

Short question:
Whats the use of detail number compared to view names? Any benefits?

As I see it this could lead to "clutter" since you can have a completely different view name than the detail number.
As an example:
SECTION F
Detail number: Section F
View name: Section E (someone forgot to change after another section was added etc.)

Do you want to show a lengthy view name in a reference callout, or a elevation mark, or a section mark?

Well, I guess it's different practices. But I usually have the same view name as the section number "A". This makes it easy to align them in order etc. in the project browser.

But sure, I see your point. Sometimes you want to just show something short and have a lengthy view name to know what it is.

How's your practice, do you always use detail number?
Also, is it correct that detail number can't be changed until the view is on a sheet?

I show the detail number and the sheet number on a typical callout mark, a section mark, an elevation mark in order to locate the detail on a sheet. A typical sheet has a 5x8 grid, 40 cells. A detail is places in a cell will carry the number of that cell. So, when I see a callout says 25/A9-4 I know exactly where it is on the sheet because the #25 is always the bottom row, fifth column from the left.

I do name sections A, B, C, and so on. But they all do have their numbers per the above convention.
