I am genuinely surprised how 3DMax even got in the equation.  Unless, you are already bored of Civil engineering from school and looking toward another venue for your career.

If you want to stick with doing what you have learnt, then I would suggest Civil3D and Infraworks (I vaguely remember I replied last night but I didn't see my post so I guess I forgot to send it).  It also depends on where you want to work, some regions prefer Autodesk products, others may be fond of Bentley (SiteOp mentioned by @chrisplyler looks slick), or Trimble's Tekla Civil.

Revit and 3DMax are good to learn but they won't play a big role in the Civil field.
