What elements/categories are effected by Silhouette settings?

Greetings.

When I was originally introduced to Silhouette (several years ago), it was my understanding that this setting effected wall, floor and roof edges, only. Despite the limitations, I like what I can do with my graphics in elevation and section.

However now (R2016) this setting effects the graphics of most everything ... Did Autodesk change what categories Silhouette can modify (or was I not paying attention in 2010)?  If so, are all edged effected by Silhouette or just certain categories?  I would be most grateful if I can get some clarity on this feature ...

To remove a line style from a silhouette edge:

  1. Click Modify tabView panel (Linework).
  2. In the Type Selector, select <Not Silhouette>.
  3. Select the edges in silhouette, and the silhouette is removed.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, the issue isn't to remove an individual line. The question I posed was, what elements/categories are effected by Silhouettes? Perhaps the answer is 'all elements/categories'. If so, this would be a disappointment.

Thank you.  Are you certain that this is all the categories?  I am finding that Specialty Equipment is also effected ...

You are right.  Specialty, Casework, Furniture, Generic, Site are affected as well.  MEP seem not.

And no, I have not tested all every category.

Thanks for going the extra mile.
It is too bad that we cannot control the extent of Silhouette effects. I cannot see any reason to apply silhouettes to furniture or casework and probably not generic as well.
In my opinion, this facility was better when it only effected walls, roofs and floors.

Is there the ability to not apply the Silhouette to generic models or certain elements?

I was hoping for an option to remove the silhouette from generic families. The inclusion of muntins in this override is just wrong. The only thing that should be applied is floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs. I would accept doors and windows. but that's it!

I'm just adding this to the list of QoL failures.

Hard agree here; it could be such a useful tool, but the way it seems to apply to nearly all model categories, with no means of adjusting, other than tons of manual per-line Lineweight tool overrides makes it nearly unusable.  If there were simply a dialog box in VV/ View Templates to check/ uncheck what categories get the silhouette lines, it would be incredibly useful.
