What does "Function", the parameter built-in parameter for wall type, do?

Dear devoted Revit users,

I have been researching for the effect by setting the "Function" parameter in the wall setting.

I used to think this does nothing but it can be used to filter in a schedule.

However, my coworker found the different behavior recently so I again started wondering it might influence data management later on if I don't set right.

What I found so far is when I set the value of Function as "Foundation" I can only draw the wall with depth and I cannot draw with height.

Otherwise, I don't see any differences.

I would like to comprehend the use of the built-in parameter.

It would be great if you can share your knowledge with me.

Thank you in advance.

Yuki

Basically mean nothing.  The Function you should educate yourself on ii the Wall Layer Function.

Isn't the Function Parameter used in determining if an element is interior or exterior facing for HVAC Load Analysis?

Check out the Autodesk article on this parameter and notice the sub articles.
