What defines the instance constrain parameters?

So Hi guys,

I am trying to create a global parameter to set the height of the luminaires in the rooms of my project. I would like to configure my families so that the "instance constraints parameters" all look like the ones in "VZ-LUMINARY-RETURN-OVER-OVER". I mean, I want the instance constraints parameters to have the option to define:

  • the HOST
  • the ELEVATION
  • the  OFFSET with possibility of setting GLOBAL parameter

But instead, there are two other families with very different instance constraints that do not allow me to set global height parameters.

What can I do to get all of my parameters (HOST, ELEVATION, OFFSET) in all of my lighting fixtures parameters (and some other families related)?

...objects are placed on host/workplane, not sure what you mean by 'get all of my parameters'... you have the parameters that you have available in Revit... Think you should consider changing the way you want to do whatever you are trying to do... But perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question.

Hi martijn.pater,

Thank you for answering.
I will try to simplify my question:
In image 1, in the instance parameters, below "constraints" I have the following parameters:

  • HOST
  • ELEVATION
  • OFFSET (this last one with the possibility to add a global parameter)

On the other hand, the other families (images 2 and 3) do not have these same parameters.I would like to understand why they do not have the same parameters. Is it because of the category? Is it because they are based on different things? Is it by type of family?

I want to understand it because my ultimate goal is to have in all these families (images 1, 2 and 3) the same 3 instance parameters, below "constraints" :

  • HOST
  • ELEVATION
  • OFFSET (this last one with the possibility to add a global parameter)
