Wall surface pattern customization

How would I go about editing a surface pattern where the overall spacing of a panel is 2'x6' EXCEPT for the very top portion? Is there anyway to selectively hide that top line? I tried everything so far typically but I'm wondering if my workflow is all wrong modelling this out. Should I have made a separate wall element stacked on this typically 2'x6' wall with the remainder panel with another surface pattern with the remainder?

What is the best way in case I need to change it again to say a smaller module or larger module?

Use Split Face tool and split where the red line is.  Then paint the upper portion with a different material (without the 2' panel line).

So if say the parapet wall gets larger or the pattern changes, I would just shuffle the split face line around to accommodate the pattern shift?

I think what you've mentioned would work well though. It doesn't effect all faces which is kind of annoying but understandable.

Thank you!

Yes you draw the split face line where the material changes.  In your case, if the parapet walls get taller and the 2' module below doesn't shift then you don't have to move the split face line.
