Wall siding

Following my recent post I am keep on trying creating a custom siding pattern with no luck. I have tried creating a curtain wall family, but I had no luck.  I have tried again creating a Generic wall based model, where I have created some planks with the pattern I wanted, but when applying them to the wall in my project, they do not constrain to the wall and I cannot cut them. Can anyone help?

What's the problem with how you did it before - by adding the horizontal siding planks as sweeps in the Wall Assembly?  Looks fine and dandy  to me.

The problem is that the planks I am using are 2.4m long and I want the joints between them to show staggered in the model

You can use this family and Change it to what you want:

So you want like a half-stepped pattern ?

If so, then model the facade using a Pattern Based Curtain Panels and a half-step Pattern.  There's plenty of tutorials/videos on-line that can guide you.

....here's one to start with. There are plenty more out there.

You know, if you don't want to model it, you could simply use a model hatch pattern, similar to the "Brick. Common" Material Model Pattern.
