Wall - Roof joint ???

Hi All!

I want the wall to extend to cover the sides of the roof.. I drew the roof following the structural wall elements, which connects correctly to the roof, but the outer layers not. I need to let those layers extend to follow the upper edge of the roof..

Any ideas?

Thanks!

select the wall(s), select attach top/base - top, select roof.

There is a variety of ways to do this, depending on how detailed/complicated you need to be. The easiest way would be to edit the profile of the wall, pick the top edge of roof. Then join the roof to the wall to have the roof cut out the portion of wall that stops at the underside.

Other ways would be

A) incorporate parts to control the layers of the wall individually

B) In the type properties of the wall, unlock (in the section view of the wall) the layers you would like to extend. This will create grips that will allow you to drag those layers vertically independantly of the rest of the wall.

Editing the wall profile and then joining the wall and roof should do the trick. Parts is not really useful here as you would do that only after the first mentioned, and modify doesnt work with edited profile A/B. If you want to use another option it would be to draw the layers seperately (structural+architectural ie.).

Sounds to me like you want exterior layers of a Compound Wall to EXTEND.  Modify the Wall Assembly to UNLOCK the adjacent layers that are to be extended past the other layers. Here's more information:

You can also use a Ref. Plane as the target for Wall Attach Top/Base.

Hello.
I think I have kind of the same problem.
I would need the insulation of the wall to attach to the one of the roof.
I send an image attached:

Thanks in advance,

Extend the roof out and attach the walls to it.  Or draw a ref plane matching the top of the roof and attach the wall to it.
