Wall Rating using filter, broken by detail level

So I created a wall type to use as a rated wall. There is no coarse-scale fill pattern applied. I was using a filter to apply graphics to the wall. Under Cut Pattern Overrides in the filter  I applied a custom fill pattern as a foreground. Everything works swimmingly, until... I change to either medium or fine detail level. When either is applied the pattern goes solid.  I tried applying an OOTB fill pattern (plywood) and it works as it should. What setting is causing my custom pattern to go solid? The fill pattern is from an AutoCAD hatch .pat file. if that matters.

You can set the Walls category to Coarse in a Medium/Fine detail level View via VG.

You say you are using a Filter. Are you talking about a Rule-Based Filter?  Post a screenshot of it.

...or just post the RVT.

That is an option, but I wanted to try to find another way. With this option, it forces the MEP side to have to set their VG walls to coarse which they may not want.

Yes, it is a rule-based filter.

Let's see if this one sticks to the wall...

Maybe by activating Medium or Fine Detail Level, you are making Visible an overlapping element that is hidden in Course Views?

...What's your View Phase Filter set to?

Phase filter is set to New Construction - Show Previous + New

I looked at the phasing graphic overrides and the cut pattern was set to solid black. I removed the override and set the detail level to medium and fine and it still changed to solid black.

paste a couple of walls in a new file and post it here.

So... it seems as though I was not quite giving you all of the information. It turns out that when I apply medium or fine detail level it is in fact not filling the wall with solid black, but is instead changing the scale of the fill pattern to look as though it was solid.  If I zoom in or change the scale of the drawing I can still see the pattern, although larger (and it looks rotated).

What about setting the VGO for Wall Detail Level to Coarse.

Yeah, this was mentioned before. This is what we currently do, and have the fill pattern in the wall under the Coarse Scale Fill Pattern parameter. This means that the MEP side also has to have their walls set to coarse. I was trying to see if I could avoid that by using filters to apply the pattern instead. It looks like either way forces you to use Coarse to show wall ratings. Well, thanks for everyone's help. Another lame Revit setting.

Old thread but the best solution we have found is to create a duplicate material called "Metal Stud-2hr" or similar and set its cut pattern to 2hr. Same with 1 etc.

we were able to fix this problem by adding a color override of "black" to the foreground graphic override settings in the filter.
