Is there a way to set the generic wall to have an R-15 value without adding specific wall materials?  I only need the minimum R-value for the wall not the specific materials to work on HVAC calculations

So basically you just want an identifier that indicates it is R-15.  Why not use one of the in-built Parameters under Identity Data, like "Description" or "Type Comments"?

You can duplicate an existing material with a thermal definition, modify it to match R15 properties, then assign it to the Walls category in Object styles.

Did I misunderstand? I thought the OP specifically said no thermal properties were needed.

Hi

you will be better off to create walls with actual specifications/layers

its just one time setting up but will take care of many upcoming issues.

because for thermal/mechanical purposes the R value itlself wont help unless

insulation and othe layers are assigned correctly , ( most of the walls are not symmetrical in plan )

1. Get the wall specifications.

2. Create wall types..

3. Change existing wall to updated new walls.

If you are not allowed to change walls, then you may need to edit existing walls

and assign layers and materials as per specifications

hope that helps
