Wall paterns.

What is the best practice to create this pattern in a precast concrete panel.  It will realy be the fluted verticals and horizontal.  Best way to stay? Go!

@mmyersQ4AUZ

If your objective is to model the actual fluting rather than simplifying the model, then my choice would be to use a curtain wall with revit curtain panels that are either:

  • a horizontally fluted precast panel;
  • a vertically fluted precast panel or;
  • a window

The windows that bisect a joint between two orientations of fluted patterns could be modelled as a fourth type of panel which would need an distance parameter to align the center mullion with the joint if the modules are not regular.

Hope this helps,

If your objective is to simply Apply a Surface pattern (more efficient from a performance point of view), you can use PyRevit's Make Pattern.  Installation instructions here, and there is a good Tutorial here

you can also create a Bump image to apply to the Appearance Assets to give the panel depth in renderings.  I have made plenty of bump images just using gradient hatches in auto cad and exporting an image
