Wall Material Wrapping at Window

Hi Folks,

I'm having a strange occurrence where the outermost material of my wall is not wrapping to finish against my window frame. I've ensured that the "wraps" box was ticked and in the wall construction, the wall is allowing wrapping at inserts on "Both" (interior and Internal).

I've also looked at the window family and cant seem to see any issues with it to my eye. I've attached the window family just in case there is an issue with it.

I would very much appreciate it if anyone might have a solution to this.

Cheers

John

Wall wraps only display on plan views, not sections.

You could create a shared architect column family wrap, nest it in the window family and associate parameters. It will join with the host wall in project to create a true wrap around the opening.

Yep, thats not a problem, its the plan where I want it to show :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Just paint the head with the Material.  Frankly, that's all wraps are. They're cosmetic.  If you want a BIM solution, model the head wrap using a Floor Type that is the same thickness and material as the Wall Exterior Finish Layer.

...is that  an elevation or plan view? If were talking jambs, then model them with a Wall Type that is the same thickness and material as the Wall Finish Layer.   Pretty much how it will be built in the field.   Wraps are not suitable for BIM work IMO. I seldom if ever use them.  I'm not even sure why Revit has them.

My apologies, just to clear it up, this is a plan detail, not a section detail. I'm ok with leaving it as we will be showing the actual details at 1:5 scale, but would like to understand why its not working.

If it is a plan then set a ref plane in the family to define where the wrap extends to as wall closure via properties check box. And edit the wall type to allow wrap at insert.

Your Family isn't constrained properly.  Double the thickness of the Host Wall and you'll see what I mean.

I doubled the wall thickness in the family and nothing jumped out to me as wrong. Could you send screen shot of the issue if you wouldn't mind?

Shouldn't this ref plane be Wall Closure if you want the wrap extend to the frame?

@barthbradley & @ToanDN I think you're both onto the solution there. @barthbradley Thanks for pointing out the constraint issue. I realised that as I was working on our window families, someone in the office took the unfinished windows and used them in this project :verwirrtes_Gesicht: hence the constraint issues. @ToanDN I just need to find the correct reference line with the " Wall Closure" ticked on as on another window family the warning "no more than two closure planes are allowed". Can't seem to find the little bugger yet. You hardly know of a quick way to find it?

Bugged on is the one right above it.

I don't have any issues with wrapping after fixing family. I did create and dimension a new wall closure for the interior side though.

I'll be doing exactly that :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:
