Wall Joins/Configuration Bar Grayed Out

Not applicable

I would like to employ the of Clean Join/Don't Clean Join function to indicate where walls stop. I can hover over an intersection but cannot seem to select one and the configuration bar remains grayed out.

Also, materials with dissimilar cores (Wood Studs [1] versus Metal Studs [1]) will show a line separating the cores at the intersection (with first wall drawn apparently having precedence and shown going thru the second wall), but walls with the same material structure, even with different structural width (4" studs versus 6" studs) will join with no distinction between the different wall types.

Also, the intersection formed by walls that cross, with neither wall actually being broken, cannot be detected by the Wall Joins command. The gray selection box does not appear near this intersection and using tab will jump around close intersections but never finds this one.

It would be nice to get the Wall Joins command to behave and be able to use discrete Clean Join/Don't Clean Join as required. Any suggestions as to what I am missing with this command would be appreciated.

Are they Parts - not Walls?

In other words, is the View's Parts Visibility Property set to Parts - not Original or Both?

As a test, draw two crossing walls of the offending versions that won't join in your main project. Do the Wall Join tools work on these test walls?

Just to clarify, have you tried using the Wall Join Tool in the Modify Tab>Geometry>Wall Joins

Another question ...are they currently joined? If not, the configuration options show gray.

They are walls.

I have tested several configurations.

1. I have overlapped two walls that did not join (the wall join tool does not find this intersection, which makes sense as it is not a joined condition). They look joined but really just overlap and Revits cleans up the intersection.
2. I have joined two walls in a "T" configuration. Wall Join tool finds this intersection but does not allow me to select it and the tool bar remains gray.
3. I have disallowed a join and moved the blue point of an intersecting wall to the outside face (end abutting the other wall).
4. Today I opened a newer model and placed some test walls. I can select wall ends and conditions like Item 2 (overlapped walls still behave like they are not joined since they are not joined). Perhaps it was a setting in the other model that disabled the Wall Join command.

I was using the Modify/Gemoetry/Wall Join command. I am used to using the Allow/Disallow Join feature at the ends of walls to achieve the break line between dissimilar walls types and hoped this command might be a simpler way to achieve this end.

Try going to a 3D View. Isolate the two walls. Then use Modify>Geometry>Wall Joins Tool. Any luck?

Let me confirm your issue. Are you saying that when you use Wall Joins Tool at Wall intersections, such as a "T", the Configuration Options are all inactive?

This seems to be specific to a model. I created a clean new model and I can select a fresh "T" intersection and the Wall Join options are available. I have another model I'm working that I did not create. I create a "T" join of two new , dissimilar walls and the Wall Join command can sense that intersection but will not allow it to be selected, so the command line remains gray. Not sure what it is about that model set up that is affecting this command.

Does the offending Model have any Linked Models? Any Phasing?

Sometimes it's helpful to post a small .rvt file that contains perhaps only (2) walls that present the problem.

That way we can test it on our end and help find the problem/offer solutions.
