Wall filter-Combined colors

hello,

picture number 1 shows the situation i want to have - wall that has 2 layers of different materials and each material get color by his material(filter).

the situation right now ((what you see in picutre 1 ) is two walls that are next to each other because i cant make a proper filter, in picture 2 you see what happens when i make a wall with two different materials.

ill explain:

the walls are getting their color from filters i use that pickes all the walls that have X material and color them in blue.

while all the walls that have Y material have color red filter.

what can i do if i want a wall that has material X and material Y will have 2 colors? ( i dont want to change the color inside the material) .

is that possible to get picture 1 from 1 wall that is colored by a filter(kind of color combined filter)?

hope you understood hehe :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

thank you

I do not fully understand your question.

Easiest way to color a wall is to add material to the layers with a certain graphical representation.

If you want to selectively color certain walls you can do so by giving the walls an identifier like a certain comment. In your view filter you can then select these walls and color them differently.

thank you for the quick answer.

this specific wall has to show differently on each view template, this is why im using filters.

if i give material X and material Y color inside their material properties it will change their color on all view templates so that isnt a good solution.

in the desired view template im working on right now:

my first filter picks all the walls that contains concrete (Material X) and color them in blue , the second filter picks all the walls with the other material (Material Y) in red (it works great in seperate walls) . but the problem starts when i have a wall that containes both materials-it cant color them in 2 colors and the result is that the wall is colored with the color of the stronger filter ( the one that is above on the view template filter list).

Then the easiest way is to remodel that wall and make two walls of it with each one layer.

well yeah, this is the situation right now, but..

i have objects that need to cross through the walls , the family of the object is wall based and cuts a hole only at one wall, this is why i combined the 2 walls into 1 wall so the pipe could cut them both. if i have 2 walls it the object will cut only 1 wall.

do you have maybe other solution?

Create parts from the layered walls and add filters for parts.

i tried what you said, it doesn't seems to fix the problem, the object is still on one wall and the walls arent really joined.

maybe you have an idea why it doesn't work?

No, I tried an opening as a generic model wall hosted, and after joining walls it penetrates both.

Okay, so this is the way I understand it...you have a several Filters assigned to the Wall Category and each of their Filter Rules are set to Filter by: Structural Material and equals and [whatever].   Then in a View's VG Overrides you add all these Wall Filters into the Filter Tab, and change each one's Cut Line/Pattern to one of the bazillion colors available.  Now you want to know if there is a way to if there is a way to filter a filter.  In other words, Wall Filter 1 meets Wall Filter 2 and the two celebrate their union by becoming another Cut Line/Pattern Override color.

If so; no you can't filter a filter.  Nor can they marry.  Smiley (zwinkernd)

i tried that and it didn't work.

filter for parts can only color one layer of wall or the whole wall, but not coloring 2 colors in the same wall.

maybe you have an idea how to make that filter work?

It should work. You need to create one filter for each Parts material.

...so you were able to get a kind of color combined filter color?

....what color did it become?
