Hi
I have a couple basic questions.
1. When giving dimensions in revit is it possible to snap to the center point - ex i want to give the dimension to the center of a wall?
2. If I want to create a wall at a specific distance from the corner of an existing wall how would I do this without creating the wall then going back after and changing the distance? (like extension in autocad)
3. Is there a setting I can change that the temporary dimensions will always be given from the exterior face of the wall?
Thank you!!

1. Use "Tab" key when Dimention is active and press it above wall where you want to snap.
2. I think there is no options like you want
Thanx for your quick reply. I attached an image of what I had in mind for the dimension to the center of the wall. I want to be able to do it without creating a model line to snap to.
1. Once you are in Wall command look at the oprion bar below the ribbon. You will have options to snap to. If you select
NOTE: It is important (If you are new to revit) to understand the structure of multy layered walls in order to understand the behavior of Dim tool. This is also important in order to understand how your wall will join. (USE Aligned and not linear)
2. Yes you can type the length without units and Revit will draw wall based on the units you have set up set up ur template file - same goes for inch. Note that there is no Ortho in Revit. Revit aligns the typical compass increments to 0, 90, 180, 270, 45 (You may add additional snaps to your desire) custom angls are typed in onscreen
3. Go to manage > Additional settings > Temp dim setttings - You can set for walls as well as openings (Face 2 Face or Center 2 Center)

Aligned Dimension only snaps to Nodes or Lines. It does not snap to Mid Points. What you can do is employ the EQ option to your advantage as in the following SC.

Placing permanent dimensions...hover over a wall's face, core face, or center and press your Tab key until the proper edge is selected, then click to place your dimension line.
Temporary dimensions...see the settings dialog box under Manage > Additional Settings > Temporary Dimensions.
Thanks a lot dear for this info, The Revit was just snapping to the center of the wall and this was driving me crazy !
