Wall complex joints and wraps

Hello,

We are trying a complex wall joint as you can see in the image.

We want that recessed part in the middle and we want the external layer to wrap accordingly.

On the image on the right we have achieved it more or less by creating an opening and putting the smaller wall inside. Then we can control the return with the opening family. But the problem is that we don't want to see the joint lines. Everything should join perfectly (line work tool is not an option, too many drawings).

On the image on the left there are three walls but then we cannot control the wrap of the external layer as we want. I know I can make it return up to certain layer but not a desired distance. (I have disallowed join)

Another option would be to use custom curtain panels, but I would prefer to avoid this. Yet another option would be to model the walls in place but I would avoid that even more.

Any ideas/suggestions? Many thanks

Place perpendicular Wall at those corner returns. Pretty much the way it will be done in real life.  Make the perpendicular Wall Type of only the wrapping layers? Get it?

...or model it another way, For instance, if it's around a niche, use a Sweep that is pathed around the niche.

Hello!

I was just doing that! And I was about to put the result.

It is definitely much better, however we still get separation lines, and the solution is a bit fiddly ( the project has a lot of these kind of situations and even worse with doors). I guess I will need to go with this solution

Alright, it is getting better playing around  with the connections:

FWIW: another way to do it, it by create a Window Family that only has a Void that cuts through the Host Wall partially, and then Wrap Wall Layers at Inserts.

Another way:

- 2 wall types

- Not allow join

- overlap walls

- join geometry

So the last joint lines that I was getting was because the material of the finish layer was no the same (it is like that in the project so we need the separation line).

If I put the same material both methods work:
