Wall Assembly Section Modify Regions: How to separate finish from outer boundary

Does anyone know how to unlock a finish layer from the outer boundary line?

Wall assembly is masonry wainscot and EIFS above. These are obviously not the same thickness but I cannot figure out how to move the finish face line of the EIFS separately from the masonry and outer boundary line.

You can try to use Split Regions and Merge Regions in the wall structure...you should be able to achieve something very close to what you need...otherwise, I would recommend to use two different types of walls stacked on top of each other

Yes you can do this for any layer except the finish face. I've got work arounds, can model wainscot as separate wall or as sweep. Just not the workflow I was hoping for and not the solution for every instance.

Workarounds? Define a workaround...for me a workaround is having to work out a solution using an external/3rd party app because none of what is provided in Revit works! Your OP didn't specify any preferences and the given suggestions were simply 2 different ways to have different finish layer thicknesses using different tools and options. From where we are sitting it is hard to guess what your preferred workflow is...

  • Use the split region mentioned above and unlocking the profile of the modified region will allow to manipulate the finish layer of that region - Image below uses this method
  • Adding an embedded reveal in the wall structure does the same
  • Adding additional Horizontal Reveals using the tool Wall: Reveal
  • Stacking wall types using System stacked walls
  • Stacking separate wall types manually
  • Using curtain walls with Basic walls as panels
