I am new to Revit and am wondering if there is there any way to create a family that is BOTH wall and floor/face based?
Ie. I am looking to model a product that always sits within the thickness of a wall (like a window) but is also secured to the underside of a floor slab soffit (like a section of duct work).
Is there anyway to do this? Or will I need to create a wall hosted family and create a parameter for the height that is adjusted to equal the slab height?
Thanks in advance!
No your family is one or the other. Advantage of face based families is that you can put it on walls and floors.
If your issue is to be modelling the same family twice you might consider to create a non hosted family and then nest it in a face based family and nest it in a floor based family.

For you specific example I would use a wall based family with a top reference plane to constrain to the slab above in the project. Keep it simple.
