Walk Speed - using the + to increase speed

Revit 2017

Full Navigation Wheel

Walk Button

When walking, you have the option to use the '+' sign to temporary increase speed.  There is something wrong or there is a glitch because it is stuck in fast walk mode.  I pressed it to use it and now I cannot slow down my walk speed.  In addition, this increase in speed affects the pan button.

In "option settings", I already adjusted the Walk Tool for the speed to be '0.1' so this is not the issue.  This only happens in one of revit files.  The other projects I am working on is fine since I did not try to use the '+' to increase speed temporarily.

Does anyone know about this?

Does anybody know how to fix this or do I need to take this issue directly to Autodesk?

Hi @Anonymous

Do you have linked files, if so can you unload them and see if the same issue occurs? Also, can you share the file with us to test?

To change the movement speed for the Walk tool

  1. Display a wheel.
  2. Right-click the wheel, and click Options.
  3. In the Options dialog, under Walk Tool, drag the Speed Factor slider to the left to decrease the walking speed or to the right to increase the walking speed.
  4. Click OK.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

I can't seem to replicate your issue, no matter how hard I try. If this is only happening with one file, it could be corrupted somehow. I'd submit it to Autodesk. Sorry.

@Viveka_CD: We must have been responding at the exact same time. The way I read it, @Anonymous already tried your suggestion unsuccessfully.

...did Autodesk recall any Revit 2017 models due to throttles getting stuck? Smiley (zwinkernd)

Yes, @barthbradley looked like that didn't work for him.

Let's see if we can get a file to test.

Thanks for the responses.  @barthbradley - I tried a new file and I cannot replicate either.  I think you may be correct in the file being corrupt

It's real annoying when when I pan an 1/8" with the mouse and I'm on the other side of my building. Smiley (wütend)

Because I could not find a solution, I pasted the entire project into a new file.  Its a good thing the project is still in it's early stages or it would have been a real bear.  Currently the walk speed is back to normal and working but I was just working on the project and something I did made it happen again.  Luckily, I did not save and I was able to revert back.  Something else is making the walk speed extra fast.  Definitely a glitch but the question is, is it just me and my system or is it Revit...

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for getting back! Good to know that your issue is resolved by transferring to a new file.

I was able to test the walk speed for models of varying size, and the walk speed once set back to normal works fine.

So, I'm wondering if this has anything to with recent updates failing to install for your Revit version.

I would suggest checking the Desktop App to see if there are any Revit updates available. For information on using the Desktop App see the following article: About the Autodesk Desktop App

Note: If you are not able to download updates through the Desktop App, the following article has information on downloading updates through the Autodesk Accounts page:

Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements

I keep up to date with the desktop app but now that you mention updates, I
may look into doing a full reinstall. It's only this revit file project
which makes the glitch odd.

Glad to hear that your updates are in place! Smiley (fröhlich)

Please see How to Complete a Clean Install and Uninstall of Revit products

Let me know if the reinstall solved the issue.
