Voids just couldn't get much harder...

I've been using Revit for years, and voids still make me want to toss my computer. 

I created a family of fancy millwork, which I imported to my base model and placed against a wall. 

I would like to create a void inset that cuts the millwork and the wall (a display monitor). 

I've made four different void families (separate and modeled in place), all of which have some issue and basically don't work. 

How can I make a void that cuts both the wall and the millwork? And that is adjustable (depth the void cuts into the wall, and basic height and width of the void inset)?

Help please!

An In-Place Modeled Void will only cut System Families - not Loadable Families.

What is the category of your millwork family?

- Create a face based family
- Draw a void and cut the Solid with it
- Draw another void but leave it alone
- Check Cut with Void when loaded from the family properties
- Load in project, place on the millwork face, it will cut the millwork
- Then proceed to cut the wall with it using Cut Geometry
