Hello,
I'm trying to "cut" some joist-ends, using a void.
I know, that it is possible, but how?
I'm using a "In-place" structural framing void - but it keeps telling me that "Some Void Forms of this family do not cut anything and will be deleted......"
(Picture attached)...
Can you please tell me what the H... i'm doing wrong?
Thank you!
Kind regards
Morten
I would suggest to have it as a solid, let it cut and hide it if you need to.
in-place void extrusion needs solid geometry within family to be cutting something.
try creating the void extrusion outside of the joist families then use Cut Geometry

- Use the Opening by Face Tool
- Use a face based family with a void precutting the solid in the family
- Build the void in the framing family (similar topic: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/extrusion-for-rafter-tail-quot-constraints-o...
Thanks for the replies.
It doesn't work at all.
I'm using a Structural Framing family. I turned it in to a solid instead of a void....
Trying to use Cut-tool, but still with no luck.
Tried the same thing (With the same family!) in a window. And...That works just fine.
What the?
