void part of railing element by cut option

hi,

there is a railing element that I want to cat its bottom that goes under the floor.

i have tried to  create a void model in place and to cut the extra part.

i could not choose the railing element in the cut operation.

is there a solution for this?

Thanks, Hagay.

You could try to create a solid mass then use cut toll and then hide masses. some times voids won't work.

You can use Cut geometry on a railing. You could create the railing (or a portion of it) using an in-place model with a swept blend for the spiral, then use a void to cut it.

Stringers instead of Railing.

I was just offering up that you could use SUPPORTS in lieu of RAILING, which is how I understand you did the "walls" bordering the stairs.   However, on second look, I'm not quite understanding how or why that Railing would be penetrating through the floor in the first place.   But as you can see here, Support does not.  It squares off.
