created a metric shape (attaching a pic) and i want to void extrude- make a hole somewhere specific(orange rectangle).
when i need to cut the void from the mass, it doesn't let me pick the mass, let's me pick walls and floors but not the mass.
why?
Edit the Mass itself an create a Void Form intersecting the Solid Form.
just to be clear, Void Form is modeled the same environment (e.g. same family) as the Solid Form.
in the mass itself i don't know the specific place of the void that i need.
when i upload the whole mass into the whole project, there are additional items that are built there and because of them i know where to place the void.
Are you applying Walls/Roofs to Mass Faces and want to cut those Walls/Roofs. You can do that by Model In-Pace Void and then use Cut Geometry to cut the Void Geometry out of the Wall/Roof before closing out of In-Place Modeling mode.
that's exactly what i'm trying to do but it's not walls or roofs. it's a metric shape i brought into another file.
and when i try to cut geometry, it allows me only to pick items that are walls/ floors and not the mass but i need to cut the mass.
Metric or Imperial doesn't matter. What is the "shape"? Is it a Mass Family? To cut the Mass Family, you need to open and edit the Family and use a Void Form to "cut" the Solid Form INSIDE the Family.
Maybe I can help you better if you post the file for me to examine.
family 19 is the mass itself
option 2 is my project+mass inside
@barthbradley i missed your last message somehow
