Visibility of wall which base is above cut plane

Is it possible to display a wall on the floor plan, the base of which is above the cut plane, but of course, in the range of visibility upwards? Such wall should be marked as dash-dot line, which represent element above cut plane on the same level.

You have a few options.  You can:

Draw a plan region that has a different view-range to the main view.

Set an underlay to the view - which is the view above.  Note that you can use linework to show the overhead lines that will adjust if the view is changed.  You then no longer need to have the underlay.  The line style will be determined by 'Overhead'.

You could use overlay and use line annotation.

The manual ways mentioned above are all valid and many use them. Other possible solutions may apply depending on how you are modeling those overhead elements

  • If they the are beams of they a result of an opening in a wall created by a family, you may add the line work to the family as applicable to the selected Category of the family (ie: window/door/beam/casework...etc)

  • If they a basic wall of a specific type  and a specific start/end point...you could use Dynamo to drop model lines over the curves/lines projected on the specified/cut plane

Alternatively … you could also overlay views on sheets

  • duplicate view>>>change cut plane height >>> isolate those walls > override graphics >> then overlay both views on the sheet

- Turn on Underlay to show the wall above cut plane
- Use Linework to override the wall lines with <Overhead>
- Turn off Underlay
