view range for ceiling plan - looks different

Hi everybody,

I have attached three pictures- one which is the image i get if i am on 3d mode and use a scope box to look directly from floor to ceiling in my building (colour), the second is what I have in my ceiling plan (black and white), and the third is the settings that I have selected in view range.

What is strange is that the width of the beam is not showing (as I have circled in blue).

For information the beam lies at 2750mm from the levels floor.   I have tried this and many other offsets as the cut-plane- but for some reason the beam does not show correctly in the ceiling plan.

I wondered whether the view range is somehow reversed in ceiling plan. - but I dont really understand what I am doing incorrectly.

If someone can help me I will be very grateful, thanks in advance!
