view filters

It seems that I cannot apply view filters where structural framing members are part of group .

I was trying to filter out this framing group by its type name.

Is there any way to filter individual groups from view?

Hi @Anonymous

I hope you are well! Smiley (fröhlich)

It is possible by right-clicking on the elements/group in a view >> override graphics in a view >> By Element.

A quick sample can be seen below:

End Result:

I hope this helps! Smiley (fröhlich)

Thanks for the reply.

I do not want to override graphics

What I want is , Add view filter  via VG and take the visibility off by unchecking the checkbox of that structural framing model group by type name.

Type name of the group? I don't think group is one of the filterable
categories.

Thanks @ToanDN

someone in project team already created groups and its hard to filter out because we do not want to show services dropper structure in our framing plans.

I found Revit doesn't allow to filter group. There are few groups for now just made hide in view.

Hi @Anonymous

As mentioned already, Groups can unfortunately not be filtered "by name" etc. What can be done, but which might take some time is to add a "Comment" to all structural framing instances (service droppers as you mentioned). Go to a default 3D view, make sure all groups and framing are visible. Select everything, then deselect the Grouped Elements (e.g. The ones which you would like to filter out/switch off under VG).

Then add a comment, e.g. - "Framing" to everything. Now, create a new Filter, e.g. - "Framing Groups" >> Define Rule >> Select the appropriate Categories >> Filter Rules by: Comments >> does not contain >> "Framing".

Then you'll be able to control the VG.

This would pretty much be a workaround for now.
