Vertical opening within roof-based family

Hi,

I'm trying to create a vertical opening that is hosted in a rooflight, so that if I place the window in a sloped roof, the opening will still be vertical in the project. Is this possible? I'm working in Revit 2023

Thanks!

Are you talking about skylight shaft walls? If so, use Project Walls.

Sorry, what do you mean by project walls?

Please confirm. Are you talking about the skylight shaft?

Yes I am. Our roof buildup is quite thick so it is very obvious that the opening is not vertical, but is instead perpendicular to the rooflight.

Are you using the Attach Top/Base Tool to attach vertical walls to the roof?

...wait a minute. are you talking about the opening?  Remove the opening cut from the Window Family and use a Shaft to cut the opening in the Project.  Or use an In-Place Void Extrusion.

It is possible, you have to built a family with angle.

Thank you, I was hoping I'd be able to have the opening hosted in the family so it would update with the size of the rooflight, but this is also a solution

Thank you for this! Do you know if there is any way to have the roof of the slope reported as a reporting parameter, or is this not possible?

Currently it isn't possible.
