I just tried creating a new wall based plumbing fixture for a bottle filler drinking fountain. The Elkay BIM file was 14MB and I didn't want to overload my project so I imported CAD files. But when imported origin to origin, they didn't line up with the reference planes. I ended up having to add geometry to the CAD file so I could move the imports to the origins.
Can anyone else verify that the internal origin doesn't match the reference plane locations for that family template? I tried to attache the template to this message but got a warning: "The attachment's plumbing fixture wall based.rft content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed."
I did determine that the generic model wall based template had an internal origin that matched the reference plane locations. Should I just copy that template to the plumbing fixture wall based template and change settings so it works in the future. I don't often use CAD imports but this was a pain.
When I looked at the 2024 family template the reference planes option for Defines Origin are not checked, though it doesn't seem to matter at all. The plumbing template definitely does not load a DWG at origin to origin where the reference planes intersect. The generic model wall based will however and that can be changed to the plumbing category...if that helps at all.
