Variable wall material thickness?

Hi,

Just found something in a model I hadn't seen before, and so far I've been unable to figure out what's going on here.

I was looking at a wall's structure, and the following comes up:

The wall has a material at the core that has "variable" thickness. Never seen that one before. And I can't seem to get it to go from variable, to fixed width in any way.

The wall profile hasn't been altered from what I can tell. I know there's such a thing as wall sweeps (not too familiar with them though) but I'm not sure if it could be used or misused to model an entire wall.

So, what's this thing and how does it work? And how would I get it back to a regular old wall with a fixed thickness?

Attached a copy of the wall, in case anyone wants to have a look.

The wall has had it's layer "Split Region". It looks like they did it to make the wall look like masonry in section. If you click Merge Regions and then click on the lines in the section preview of the wall structure you can remove all the "splits". Never seen that done before...

In the end the wall was such a mess it was just easier to create a new type and switch the wall over to that type. But I did keep a copy of the original wall in the archives... in case they want to put it next to the Ark of the Covenant in Area 51 😀
