I currently have a section of my building acting as an overhang, and I put in my trusses and beams in the area I would like to place my PV on my roof. I want to use some sort of glass roof with thin film PV placed in a grid style, where there is a frame around each panel that allows light to shine through the overhang. How could I go about doing something like that? I have attached some pictures for my inspiration, as well as a screenshot of what my roof looks like now (I just have the PV as a material, but obviously no light can shine through). Thanks!
I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you wondering how to create a material to assign to the geometry, or how to create the geometry? Or are you asking about rendering?
I want to know if there is a way to create a material that has areas that are transparent for rendering purposes (I want the light to be able to pass through certain areas, and be blocked in others)
I would direct you to PBR Materials.
