Is there any way to use a PDF as a Decal?
We're putting PDFs in Revit 2020 and loving the "live" ability to see changes when we save our PDFs. (Less steps than having to save the PDF as a PNG or JPEG first.)
We'd like that for Decals, too.
Do you not start with images anyway that you then use in your PDFs? If so, you need to modify the image first anyway. You can reload an image from the Manage Images dialogue box.
I personally see PDF as underlays of a scheduled visual reference instead of a link and Im not sure what or where would the advantage be in loading/using PDF as a decal …
Considering that a decal is a place holder and (not an imbeded/inserted image), it doesn't make sense that decals should live sync once the source image is modified. Besides that, Decal tool provides certain attributes which are basically applicable to images when rendered (bump/luminance/texture...etc) which aren't really useful for a PDF
The OP is more of a topic to submit on the Revit Ideas section with further clarification from @Anonymous on the potential advantages of his/her idea
