Using Linework tool to hide lines in section

Hello -

I am trying to use the linework tool (with invisible lines) to hide lines in section. I'd like to hide everything above the ceiling plane. However, when I click the section above the ceiling it hides the whole wall.

I thought in the past I was able to control each individual segment. This isn't only for invisible lines, if I pick another line style it applies it to the whole wall. I attached two screenshots.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

W

Why not use a Masking Region?

This is why I would recommend masking region than to use linework tool. Linework tool can be tedious and you have to redo all that work if you cut at another section.

Linework tool overrides the entire line segment of the element unless you split the element to pieces.  In your case, join the ceiling with the wall to split wall surface then you can use Linework tool to hide the above graphic.

p/s: When using the tool in section/elevation, you could grip stretch the blue dot to shorten the extent of the override.

That's what I thought...and they are joined in this case. But it still wasn't working. Some others suggested a masking region which seems to work well....but I am still a little confused about why the LW tool didn't work with the joined geometry.
