Use vector DWG file for floor

I just imported a DWG file I made in Illustrator, and I am trying to select the lines on it to cut out certain parts of the floor from the file. Any suggestions?

Also, when I render, it doesn't show up at all.

Open the .dwg in AutoCad. Are thelines polylines? If so, select all of them, and then explode them (to make them individual lines.)

Save and Purge the .dwg.

Re-load the .dwg link in Revit.

See if you can select the lines.

I've found that .dwgs made in Adobe are a bit odd ( vs a "normal" .dwg generated in AutoCad) esp. when linked into Revit.

I did that, and now my dwg file is up and down, as opposed to flat on the floor.

Open the cad file in Autocad. Orient the View Cube to a 3d axonometric/isometric view.

Is everything "flat"--or do you see any lines projecting into 3d space?

Purging and exploding polylines should not change the orientation. But just to be sure, I suppose the polylines could have been 3d polylines ( with Z values )

Since it came into Revit rotated in 3d, it sounds like its UCS may have changed. That should NOT have happened.

If so, use the "flatten" command in Autocad, and select ALL when prompted. If FLATTEN says "unknown command", it may need to be loaded as a LISP routine. If that's the case, check the AutoCad Forums.

Anyway--As I mentioned earlier, creating .dwg files from PDFs in Adobe Illustrator can cause some very odd results in the resulating .dwg file.

Make sure you thoroughly clean it up, purge , etc in Acad before linking it into Revit.
