I'm working on a renovation project for an existing client. I have an old revit model that contains the original building and then a second old revit model with additions onto the original building. (The second model with the addition has the original building revit file linked in). What is the easiest way to create a new revit project file that includes all of the model elements from the previous two project files? Thank you!
I would link the Revit file into the new project. If you need to use the content from existing project, you would transfer the project standard.
Where does the new work heavily involve? The existing model, or the previous addition, or none? If the work involves remodeling the existing building then use the existing building model as the working file and link the precious addition. If the work involves remodeling the previous addition then use the previous addition as the working file and link in the existing model. If the work are independent from the above then create a new model and link the two in.
Are you wanting the model elements in the older projects to be resident in the new project (e.g. not Links)? Link them, Bind them and then Ungroup them.
If you want to keep them as Links, make the Link in the second project an Attachment, and then Link the second project into the new project.
