Use content in DWG and place on floor to render...?

Hello all. I am a bit of a novice with Revit, so I apologize in advance for some of my limited knowledge. I am working in a revit file where I essentially want text that I layed out in an illustrator file and have it visible in a render I am working in. To explain my process a bit:

>created file in Illustrator

>saved as dwg

>Used Import CAD function

>currently showing in my gound level plan as an import symbol

Despite being able to see it in the ground floor plan, I don't think it is an element that can be recognized as render-able. I have attempted to paint the floor (and creating a material), but that did not render well. I have attempted to create a decal (which seems to be my best bet), but I haven't been able to apply a decal to the floor I have created.

My main question is does anyone have a way or method that I can best go about placing this design into Revit so that I can render it? I have it in Illustrator, so I can save it into other file types, such as pdf, png, etc. I haven't found a topic trying to achieve what I'm trying to do, but if you know of one, please by all means post.

Why is it not possbile to put your decal on your floor? If you are in 3D view where the floor is visible and you insert a decal it should attach to the faces of floor.

I have experienced before that placing decals on a face of a linked file will prevent the decal from showing properly. I do not know if this is still the case.

When this happened I opened the linked file and placed the decal over there. Or you could put in a (thin/transparent) object, for example a new floor, and place it on top of your floor and put the decal on there.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Thanks a lot! was placing it in a 2D floor plan view before, and it would only allow me to place it on the walls. Placing the decal in a 3d view seemed to do the trick.
