Hello Everybody,

i have a little question...How can i trasform url path, from absolute to relative for pdf file insert in url parameter?????????

i have 2 pdf files, i add pdf files path in the URL types parameters (one built in paramater and one shared)

i add the path value as absolute path, and i can open the file so easily.

I have to send this model with pdf at one teammate, obviously when he click on botton with 3 dots, the file pdf don't open the file.

I read a lot of documentations about that, and nothing works. I have to storage my all file in particular structure or i must to namethe folder in particular folder structure?

Someone can help me??

I think it only works when the linked document is in the same folder or in a subdirectory of the same folder as the project

Imagine:

D:\Revit\Project.rvt

D:\Revit\Doc.pdf

Then in the URL parameter of Project.rvt you must enter Doc.pdf

D:\Revit\Project.rvt

D:\Revit\Documents\Doc.pdf

Then in the URL parameter of Project.rvt you must enter Documents\Doc.pdf

Of course you will have to send the project including the referenced documents in the same folder structure.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Obviously i send all referenced Documents in the folder.

the problem is on path.

for my work the path is:

D:\EnricoG\01-University\03-MASTER\Training\00-Model\01-Documantation

My team mate have this path

C:\RiccardoS\01-University\03-MASTER\Training\00-Model\01-Documantation

The model are storage in 00-Model

The pdf file are storage in 01-Documentation

The folder 01-Documentation  is a sub.folder of 00-Model.

D and C are our local harddisk.

When i send the file obviously i send all. but the problem is the starting point of path.

How can i re-write this absolute path"D:\EnricoG\01-University\03-MASTER\Training\00-Model\01-Documantation" , tin relative?

A workaround is to ask users to change all paths with a little script (Python or Dynamo).

but i believe there must be a better solution, any user, including the client, should be able to get meta data and documentations easily.

It doesn't work.... this is a great problem for a BIM database .... Isn't it? will there be any upgrades that will fix this or will make it more simple?
