Understanding the TEMPLATE used by the original creator, from a [***.rvt] File

If I get a [****.rvt] file in hand to do further working, how can I know the TEMPLATE used by the original creator - Architectural / Structural / Construction / Customized....

You don't. Unless it's mentioned somewhere in the project file. Why do you want to know?

No there isn't. But if it is a structural model you received, why would they have used an Architectural or Mechanical OOTB template to start the project? and/or vice versa...

 

There could be some indications in the .rvt which could help you narrow down the possibilites like the type of view loaded, the disciplines set to views, the visibility setting and/or filters set...but assuming you were successful in guessing which template they have used, what purpose would that serve?

Why do you want to know that you think the template will give you? Maybe we can help you get the information that you need.

 

I can't think of any reason that this would be useful. Once a project is created, the template has no bearing on the model. Anything and everything can be changed once it is created.
