Undeletable views

Hi,

I came across a very strange thing just recently. I am managing a team on several projects in office and sometime people manipulating things that they do not know how they did it and it causes problems. I have a project that I want to delete many views ( some from model and some drafting views), there is no pinned element or crop pinned and so on and even reference view but still I cannot delete them and constantly I got a message about pinned elements and there is not!

What could be the reason for that? I wonder if anybody can help me on this.

Thanks

Any Groups in the model? These may throw the "pinned" error when trying to delete views.

That is the thing I have unpinned all elements, and in drafting views I deleted all referencing views and unpin groups and elements but still I cannot delete them. It is frustrating.

Hi @Anonymous

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues.

Can you post a screenshot of the error message you receive?

Which version of Revit are you using and can you confirm if you have the latest updates installed for your Revit version?

Thanks,

Interesting. I've never experienced this before. But, I'm reminded of a @ToanDN trick I learned recently. Do you have a View List? If so, maybe you can delete from the views from within the schedule itself.

Are there elements or worksets that are un-editable / checked out by another user?

Is anyone else in the model while you are trying to delete the views?

Did anyone close out Revit without synching/relinquishing all?

Any locked 3D Views?

Can you check the box in the warning dialogue, then select Delete?

At the moment, I am the only person on file to see how can resolve this issue. It is supposed to be easier than this. Everybody relinquished elements and left the project. No locked 3d views. That is very unusual and strange issue. As a regular practice I should delete all unwanted view before I send the model for review by BIM Coordination company and I did it before many times but now I cannot.

Check "Views" worksets and make sure no one owns the view.

Thanks. Two weeks ago I read this and some of views are just 2d drafting views and all elements are completely unpinned and there is no crop. I thought maybe some elements are hidden but they were not and the person who did this does not know what he did and how.

Curtainwall Panels are normally Pinned, unless you unpin them individually.

That is about the only other thing I can think of on this one.

Yeah. If these views were model views I would have tried to unpin curtain wall panels and mullions, but even drafting views that do not have any external elements like CAD file or image are not deletable. I really appreciate your thoughts on this. It is important to know where the source of this issue is, then as a solution for anybody that may have this problem now or future would be helpful. I have worked with Archicad as well for many years but I do prefer to work in Revit. And I got a lesson, none of the programs are foolproof and as soon as somebody without proper knowledge try something or play with something then it is a disaster.
