Unconstrained nested families

Hi,

I have a question regarding nested families. I have noticed that when an unconstrained extrusion is loaded into another family it usually acts like a static object. Meaning it doesn't get further extruded when you try to do so.
What are the chances that such a nested family would be stretched when loaded into another family? Is it safe to use, let's say to make a door handle out of an extrusion and then just load it into another family, would that handle risk of being extruded if the position of the door it is locked to changes?

Yes it can.  It is a very common practice.

You need to create instance parameters in the nest family for any dimensions you want to control in the host family.  Then associate them with parameters in the host family.
