Unable to Edit Family

Hello,

When I try to edit this family I loaded into a model, it says "cannot edit family" and shows these errors:

I am able to edit it when the family is open, but if it's not, "edit family" will not automatically open the file from the model.

regards

@lilflor

Apparently there are model groups in that family which are not working fine with the Types you have created

You can upload for a closer look

OR

since you mentioned that it opens directly but not from proec

  1. you can Open the family
  2. Flex it, change types/parameter values ...etc to check when/why the family breaks
  3. Fix that
  4. Reload into project and overwrite

OR

  1. you can try Open the family (again not edit)
  2. Ungroup any model groups in it
  3. Reload into project and overwrite

I encounter these errors when upgrading from older Revit family to newer version. The error shows it is line that maybe drawn too thin or too small for Revit to accept. It is becoming more and more frequent if older family use a lot of complex curves. So it will delete it automatically. Perhaps upload the family so we can look at it.

Hi,

Looks like a Extrusion in the family doesn't have a (valid) workplane, when changing parameters for this family in the project it can't determine how to modify this extrusion.

I assume you can open the family in the Family editor?

Check the Id given in the warning in the family editor or check which Extrusion is missing in the project and correct it in the family editor.

Or post the family.
