Typing text with bullet points triggers zoom extents; can't type text

This is a very frustrating problem.

Once I type more than 3 bulleted items:

stupid zoom out.PNG

Revit will zoom extents as soon as I type the next character in my sentence, as if I were triggering a command:

even stupider.PNG

The highlighted dot represents the extents it will zoom out to.

Assuming this is a bug. Any help appreciated.

I think that qualifies as a "Bug". What version are you using?

@Viveka_CD?

...how about copy/pasting the text?  Same result?

Hi I'm using 2018.3 - although I have a screen recording of it happening in 2018.2 too. It's a windows xbox live recording, not sure how to upload it.

Thanks for the alert @barthbradley

Hi @Anonymous

Sorry to hear that you are running into issues with the text.

A few questions for you:

  • Which version of Revit are you using?
  • Can you check if this is updated to the latest build?
  • Does this happen in a particular model or all models?
  • Specific to a user profile or machine?
  • Have you tried with another font?
  • Is this specific to a view?

Looking forward to your reply update.

Regards,

Hi,

  • Which version of Revit are you using? 2018.3
  • Can you check if this is updated to the latest build? 2018.3 is current as far as I know
  • Does this happen in a particular model or all models? This particular model
  • Specific to a user profile or machine? Other users experience as well
  • Have you tried with another font? Yes - still occurs
  • Is this specific to a view? No happens in other views too

Some testing on my end seemed to indicate that if I make the text box way larger than it needs to be, it'll cooperate. It seems to be an issue with text-wrapping on bullet points that contain a shift+enter

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for responding! Smiley Happy

Revit 2018.3.1* is the latest build.

Can you share a model and journal to test further? I can send a private upload folder with you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Download Screencast for your recordings...then it is easy to share the link...oh, and it is free.

Hi @Anonymous

I've shared a private upload folder with you.

Please let me know if you have any issues accessing the folder.

I've also shared a collector bat with you to extract files.

Please see Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support

Let me know if you have any questions and when you've uploaded the requested files.

I look forward to hearing from you!
