Twisted Door Handels

Hi

I am busy drawing 3D models of various doors. The door part is easy. It is with some of the hardware that I have run into some issues.

The first issue is with creating a twisted handle. I have been able to create a twisted mass under Metric Mass but I am not able to import it into a family.

The second issue is creating a similar twisted mass, but in a circle for a door knocker.

Any ideas?

I have attached photos of the two doors.

  1. Always model hardware and accessories in separate families (and nest them into the door)
  2. Shapes similar to that require that
    • you model 1 twist first (in a generic model family using a blend or preferable a swept blend for a smoother shape)
    • Nest the above into the Handle family and array it (works for both radial and linear)

The alternatives,

  1. because it is easier to model such shapes in Massing environment, you can either convert them to Directshapes or Sat then import them into a generic model as solids
  2. you could also use a simple extrusion and add detail items to display the spiral graphic representation in Elevations/Sections

Something like this?

Helix.

Here's a great video tutorial on how to model a helix:

Hi

No. These are round shapes twisted around each other. I need to twist a  single square shape

I would use blend sweep and have the profile twist in opposite direction. See attached how to achieve what you want.
