Trouble Finding AutoCAD link in Revit 2016

I cannot find AutoCad link when I link in Revit. Is there any suggestions of how to move AutoCAD to correct place for importing?

First, try link the CAD file center to center.  If it still doesn't work, then you need to open the DWG and do a ZOOM EXTENT to see if there are any elements too far from the area of interest.  If so, delete them and relink.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting on the Revit forum.

Importing a DWG into Revit prompts warning: "Some numerical data within the imported file was out of range. This numerical data has been truncated."

The possible cause is that the dwg file is corrupt.

Please follow the steps below to clean up the AutoCAD file and re-import it:

  • Open the drawing file.
  • Purge Registered Applications (from the command line):Type -PURGE.
  • "R" for Regapps (registered applications), then Enter.
  • "N" when asked to verify each name to be purged, then Enter.
  • Type PURGE at the command line. With all check boxes checked on, click Purge All.
  • Audit and fix any errors: Type AUDIT at the command line."Y" for Yes to fix any errors, then Enter. Save the drawing.

If the drawing persists with problems, try the following steps:

  • Ensure all layers are on, thawed, and unlocked.
  • Detach all external references (XREFs).
  • Write Block all necessary information in the file out to a new drawing (from the command line):
  • Type WBLOCK at the command line.
  • Under Source, select "Objects".
  • Under Objects, click the "Select objects" icon.
  • Use a selection window to choose only the necessary objects from the file (do not simply type ALL).
  • Set file path and name, then OK.
  • Open a new blank drawing file.
  • Insert the file created. Type INSERT at the command line. Select the file.
  • Uncheck "Specify On-screen" and check "Explode", then OK.
  • Type PURGE at the command line. With all check-boxes checked on, click Purge All.
  • AUDIT and fix any errors.Type SAVEAS and create a new file name.

Hi Viveka,

I have got similar issues despite following all of the instructions. My CAD Model has multiple dynamic blocks drawn in 3d (all different geometries are used - Solids, Meshes, Faces & Surfaces, etc)

I can append the CAD model in navisworks along with all the rest of the Project files but when I try to import my CAD Model into Revit, it gives me below errors.

'Some numerical data within the imported file was out of range. This numerical data has been truncated.'

'A serious error has occurred. It is strongly recommended that you use Save As to save your work in a new file before continuing.'

I have tried to convert the CAD Model in IFC format, it failed to convert the CAD Model in IFC.

Could you please suggest me a way to get the CAD Model imported in Revit?

Kind regards

Nik
