Trimming Floors

Hello,

Is it possible to trim a floor If you was looking at it in 'sectionally' (if thats a word), the reason is because I have a kerb edge and haunching which when in place clashes with the floors.

Any assistance is appreciated.

See images attached:

I have attached a original image and then one highlighting the area id like to have trimmed

Hi @Luke.Gawthorp ,

Depending on the object type of the Kerb edge, join the Kerb with the floor. If they have different materials the Kerb shape will be removed from the floor.

Other option is, if the Kerb is a User family to place a Void in it with the desired cutable shape and set the family "Cut with voids when loaded" to true. Now you can use Cut to cut the void out of the Floor.

The kerb is set using a railing profile as per the environment plugin so uses a profile, can you add a void into profile?

Alternatively if thats not possible i guess i can make the kerb into a family, and ill try generate a void as recommended. Its not a complex shape and only going around a rectangular piece of landscape.

Hi @Luke.Gawthorp ,

Railings can't be used for either options, as it's a system family.

Looks like @SteveKStafford option, a slab edge could be a viable option, however it can only add mass not subtract it like a wallreveal. So you would need to reduce the floor boundary and "fill" the gap with the Kerb with the slab edge (this also uses a profile)

Yes, ...add not subtract using a slab edge. Another option is an in-place "floor" void sweep.

The In-place void?

On the Architectural Ribbon Tab > Build panel > Component, pull down button and select Model In-Place.

Select the correct Category (Floor in this case) and model the void, before finishing the In-Place model cut the floor with the Void and finish the In-Place editor model

Just delete the in-place void or edit it and delete the void that's no longer needed if there are multiple voids in the in-place model

Note that a Void in it always needs to be used to cut else the in-place model can't be closed.

ps. When the floor is deleted, the in-place model with the void will be also be deleted.

Model the curb as a slab edge, a generic model family, or an in place family, then you can join it to the floor. Switch join order then the floor volume will be subtracted, no need for any void.
