Trim Tool Question

Hello,

I have a question regarding the trim tool. When I select the trim tool, I am only given the option to select one reference as the trim boundary. However, on several occasions, I want to select multiple references as the trim boundary (see the attached image for an example). In the attached image, I want to trim the portion of the line that is within the rectangle, but I want the lower and upper portion of the line outside of the rectangle to remain. How would I go about this? I am sure I am missing something very simple. Thanks for your help!

Selecting multiple trim boundaries like Acad is not possible in Revit... Use Split then trim.
