Hello,
Roof and Ceiling questions:
1. I've been doing a number of vaulted ceilings lately and found it difficult to trim sloped ceilings or say a new roof to an existing roof in 3D. How can I get that joint where they meet to be clean and exact? Do I really have to go through all hassle of create a 3D model line, then using that as a reference?
2. Also, can you point me to video tutorials for creating dormers where the roof is cleaned up where they come together? I.e., a vaulted dormer.
3. For a roof overhang where the framing is steps down in size (either an angled soffit or shallower soffit), how would you suggest creating this with the roof tool? Since most my roofs wrap or jog, using the roof by profile doesn't really work.
Thanks,
Angelo

My comments: If the roofs are touching and assuming both are Roofs (not a roof and another Category) you should be able to use the Join Geometery tool to clean up the intersection. However, if you have an extrusion and a roof they will not Join. Perhaps you can post a portion of your model if this does not address your question.

My comments: Here's the results from a Google search. The first three or four look very promising.

My comments: You can either apply a Fascia or add a second portion of roof that is sized down or add an extrusion that sized the roof down.
I hope this helps and thanks for posting.
Looks like the link to a Google search that was posted nearly four years ago is no longer valid. Based on the URL, the search string used was "video+of+revit+dormer". Try searching on that. It worked for me.
