Transfer account to new account to maintain forum status

I know this is the wrong forum, but I can't see an Autodesk Account/Profile forum. Please move to the necessary one if required.

I have recently changed firms, and upon leaving my last firm, I changed my profile to my personal email. Now that I have received my new work email, I wanted to change my forums profile to my work email, but an account has already been set up with the new email.

How do I transfer all my posts, ideas, contributions & status to my new work email?

You should be able to update to your new email. Go to your personal information and then change the alternative email.

Thanks for your replies, but as I mentioned in the OP, my new email is assigned to my new autodesk account so I can't add the new email to my old account. I get an error saying email already in use.

@Kev_D

  1. Delete the Autodesk Account your new firm created for you
  2. Once it is deleted >>> assign your company email to your old Autodesk account

From there on they can either give you access using your old ID or the Company email which you have re-assigned to your old ID. (Note: some companies have policies where you might want to consider keeping your private stuff private)

It's not really private. It's my BIM resource and will follow me from firm to firm. I initially had it set up on my old firm and I want to continue it.

I will speak with IT and see can they delete the account and reassign when I've switched the email.

Thanks :daumen_hoch:

When I finished up in my last firm I just changed the email to my personal email, which I am using now to log on and post this. The notifications are going to my personal email on my phone. But now I want to change the email again to my work email so I can log in on my work PC under my work email.

I am sure I am not the only one who wanted to carry on their account status when changing firms.

No you are not the first and it is doable by re-assigning email --- Its just that the title of your post implies merging accounts when in fact they are not being merged.

Thanks for clarifying. I have reached out to our IT team.

**** OP title :grinsendes_Gesicht_mit_großen_Augen:, I thought it did make sense. It's like anything Revit, what makes sense to the creator doesn't always make sense to those who read it.

So I managed to delete my new work account, but it could take up to 90 days to completely remove. While this is happening I still can't change my email on my existing account. It still says it is in use. I am assuming it will stay like this until the new one is completely removed by autodesk. Is there anyone I can contact to speed up this process?

I have got this issue resolved thanks to help from our Reseller and Autodesk. If an account is already created and you can't switch the email address since it is in use follow these steps.

  • Open your new Autodesk Account
  • Click your name and select Password and Security
  • Select Security, and change the email to something that does not exist (example 1234@whatever.com). This email does not need to be real. It will ask to verify, but you just don't cause it does not exist. The key here is changing the letters.
  • Then open your existing Autodesk Account, navigate to the same place, and input your new email. You can input it now cause the letters are different, but now you can verify with the new email, and all your forums will now be available in your new account.
