I want to be able to track general notes. I've tried multiple methods that lead to more complications. here is what I have so far... See image below. my question is can I track general notes using some kind of an automated date system? Current date and View name you see is from a different family catalog.
I'm not sure what you mean by "tracking"? Can you be a little more specific?
... so an honor system won't work for you? That is, relying on users to input date and comments themselves, along with the note number and text. Try making it a condition of employment. That ought to motivate them. ![]()

Kind of figured but is there an advanced custom notation family I can use?
No. But you can add a text parameter to the family and have users enter the date/time they check out the family.
it's not about the honor system lol. we currently use BlueBeam for our notes and each comment has its history. we are trying to switch over from AutoCAD to Revit and I am trying to explore its potential. no one is perfect, mistakes tend to happen and I'd like to reduce it if I can.
thanks
If there is no easy way of tracking a note, then we might need to still use Bluebeam for this specific task or might find another way Revit of doing so.
thank you
ill keep this form updated of what I did
Yeah, I get it. I was kind of jesting. I can definitely see the value. Wish Revit had some sort of tracking like this in other areas as well.

I think you are talking about tracking Comments on the model, are you not? If so, make use of the system Comments parameter already built-in to every element in Revit. Create a schedule with that parameter and you can track the Comments for each and every element. Users can click on a row in the schedule that says "Fix this or else" and jump to the very element in the model, fix (or not), then provide a response that will reflect in the schedule in real time.
You can even format the schedule to filter/sort/group/highlight with color by different Comments.
