Topography

Hi,

I would like to calculate the amount of earth movements by subtracting the terrain after the first earth works to the main site, but I'm having a problem with the topography. So...

 - I have a acad file with original topography (before earth works) geolocated by coordinates (M,P).  When i link this file in Revit the coordinates are in the correct place (confirmed with spot coordinate). When i acquire the coordinates in Revit, the survey and project base points keep in the origin (0,0,0).

 - I also have a new topography with the first earth works where i have some important points but they are identified with dynamic blocks. Once the Revit can not read the information of these blocks, i had to extract the list with the correct coordinates (x,y,z) in order to create the new site. In acad, these two files are exactly in the same position.

When i go to Revit, i link the first file and generate the original site, which is in the correct location (i confirm). Further i want to generate the final site, after the first earth works, according to the list of points (file .csv) and this site does not match with the original one. Theoretically, the coordinates are in area of the main site, so both sites should be in the same place, but they aren't.

Any idea how can i match the two topographies?

Add a 0,0,0 entry to the CSV so that after generate the top, you can move it using that point as a reference for aligning with the other topo/coordinates.

Are you saying your exported to DWG the Revit Toposurface that you created from the point file, and then inserted that DWG into the original CAD survey -- and they line perfectly?     Why not then just Import that new DWG into Revit and recreate the Topography using Create from Import Instance?

ToanDN thank you for your reply.

The coordinate (0,0,0) solved my main problem, but i had to create the second surface before the original one, and... that's it, match perfectly. Now, is it possible to subtract the second one to the first and create a third surface which will be the resultant? I was looking for a resolution but i dont find. Any idea?

I have another problem, because i don't understand how the architectural model was positioned, and i have to positioning the resultant terrain in that model. This model have a different location and orientation as well, but i think that i can positioning by defining the same coordinates for project and survey point.

Hi barthbradley, thank you for your reply.

No, no. I have a original topography (.dwg) that i imported for Revit to generate the surface, and have another dwg file with some points which corresponds to the terrain after the first earth movements. For these points i have to do the data extraction where i created a .csv file with the coordinates x,y,z of them.

The tip of ToanDN solved my problem, but now i have another issue which is subtract the second one to the first and i don't know how can i get this.
